We are working with a FTSE 250 financial services business to appoint a Senior Assistant Company Secretary based in London. Joining a collaborative governance team, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of EMEA Governance to deliver high-quality company secretarial and corporate governance support across EMEA and global subsidiary entities. This varied position offers exposure to regulated boards and committees, corporate transactions, governance projects, and corporate compliance matters, while providing excellent opportunities for professional development within a supportive environment.
This role would suit an ambitious Assistant Company Secretary seeking to progress to the next level, taking ownership of a portfolio of meetings while gaining valuable exposure to wider transactional and governance matters in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support the delivery of company secretarial and corporate governance services across the EMEA group, deputising for the Head of EMEA Governance as required.
- Manage a portfolio of regulated board, committee, and management meetings, providing end-to-end governance support.
- Support corporate transactions, statutory compliance, and governance projects, including restructurings and acquisitions.
- Oversee the Group’s legal entity structure and corporate secretariat database, ensuring records remain accurate and up to date.
- Oversee statutory compliance across a portfolio of UK and international entities, liaising with overseas colleagues and external advisers as required.
- Mentor and develop junior members of the governance team.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Demonstrable company secretarial experience.
- Fully CGI qualified.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong minute-writing skills with the ability to balance technical accuracy and commercial awareness.
- Financial services sector experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
