Overview
We’re partnering with a listed company in the real estate industry to appoint a Legal & Company Secretarial Adviser. Reporting to the Company Secretary, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Legal & Company Secretarial Adviser to provide strategic legal, governance and compliance support across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Act as a trusted legal and governance adviser, providing commercially focused legal advice and strategic support across the organisation, including identifying projects requiring legal input and engaging external counsel where specialist expertise is required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation, including the Board, Executive Committee and external advisers, while supporting and developing junior members of the legal team.
- Develop, implement and continuously enhance the organisation’s legal, compliance and data protection framework, including policies covering data protection, anti-bribery, modern slavery, market abuse and whistleblowing, alongside DPIAs, LIAs, audits, reporting and training.
- Oversee contract management and legal risk, including contract review and approval processes, regulatory risk register management, commercial contract review, standard documentation and compliance with the UK Corporate Governance Code.
- Support the Company Secretary with Board and governance activities, including statutory filings, corporate records, Board reporting, Annual Report preparation, AGM administration, employee share schemes and ESG initiatives, ensuring all work aligns with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- England & Wales qualified Solicitor or Barrister with corporate and commercial law experience.
- Commercially minded, with broad legal expertise and the ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A strategic, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Experience in governance and company secretarial work, particularly within a listed or regulated environment, and previous in-house legal experience would be advantageous.
