We are working with a well-established organisation within the healthcare sector to recruit an Assistant Company Secretary. This is an excellent opportunity to join a purpose-led business, supporting the delivery of effective corporate governance within a small governance team.
Working closely with the Company Secretary, you will play a key role in providing high-quality governance support to Boards and Committees, helping to ensure the organisation continues to meet the highest standards of corporate governance and statutory compliance. This role would a senior Company Secretarial Assistant or Junior Assistant Company secretary looking to further develop their career within a collaborative and values-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive company secretarial support to a portfolio of Boards and Committees, including agenda planning, board pack preparation, minute taking, action tracking and calendar management,
- Organise Board and Committee meetings and governance-related events where required.
- Build strong working relationships with Chairs, Directors and senior stakeholders, providing governance advice and support.
- Maintain statutory records, registers and subsidiary company documentation, ensuring ongoing compliance with legal requirements.
- Support the development of corporate governance best practice, including Board effectiveness reviews and governance improvement initiatives.
- Manage the organisation’s policy governance framework, coordinating policy reviews and maintaining templates and guidance documentation.
- Ensure governance records, minutes and documentation are maintained to a consistently high standard.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Company Secretarial or Corporate Governance role, including supporting Boards and Committees through agenda preparation, board packs and minute taking.
- CGIUKI part-qualified or qualified, or an interest in studying towards a professional qualification.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Attitudes and Behaviours
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build relationships with senior stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, with a professional and discreet approach to handling confidential information.
